Life Changing Essay by Zach Aubut 10/6/2011

Life Changing Experience

“Life is always greener on the other side” In my eyes this quote, which my father always used when I was a kid, shows the ability to persevere. Never stop looking and you will find what you where searching for even if you don’t know what your looking for. I will explain how this quote helped to change my entire outlook on my life.

Art was and still is my favorite way to express my thoughts and feelings, but I have never been able to draw with any drawing utensils. My hand was never steady or my brush could never reveal my thoughts and feelings. I began to give up on art, and began to believe I wasn’t meant to be an artist. In my life everything was changing I was moving around so my schools were always changing, too. I would never have guessed something so big was about to happen in my life.

I moved to Maui, Hawaii, I began attending a school known as Maui High School. I decided to join Design Technology class, this one just one of the many classes I was in at this school. This class changed my life, not the class itself but what I found in the class. This amazing computer 3d (3 Dimensional) modeling design program called “MAYA”. Maya helps to create 3d objects or people, in general, “ART”. Finally I had found what I looked so hard to find, a way to get my ideas and thought’s onto paper or realistically just a visible form of art.

My life was always hectic and pieced together until I moved to Maui. I never knew where I wanted to end up, never knew how or what I wanted to do after I left school. I always had an interest in games and 3d movies that were beginning to arrive on the market at the time, so I always wanted to do something in game design or movie making, for the fun and experience. When I was growing up my parents always supported what I wanted to do by always telling me do what made me happy, even though what made me happy were video games and movies, my parents never acknowledged this choice: until they realized I was serious, they began to tell me that this field wont pay enough money to support a lifestyle. I never knew how to enter this field, until through my unbreakable perseverance I found MAYA.

This Program “Maya” changed my whole outlook on life; it changed where I’m going to college, what I think of my future career. In my own eyes I have achieved the impossible, considering where I had come from and what my background consisted of. At last everything was clearer more understandable and ultimately I was able to see my entire life thanks, to this digital art form. Through perseverance and never giving up on dreams I was able to find my “true calling” as some would say, and create 3d models of my unimaginable imagination.
